On December 19, 2007 the Wild Life Encounter researchers came to Yutan Elementary’s gym. Kindergarten through sixth grade attended this special assembly.  The docents showed us that there are many different species in nature. The researchers also explained to us that the animals in the wild have many ways to live.

The students were told to stay quiet so we would not scare the animals. The first animal we saw was a woodchuck (groundhog). Then the porcupine came out.  They spoke to us about how a porcupine has guard hairs that are just like feelers. Later, the instructors showed us a long eared fox, spiders, and the Joey. Many of the students were able to pet and feed some of the animals.

Mr. Stanton said, “Wild Life Encounter have people that travel around the United States.  They come back for Christmas and stopped in Yutan.  I like the spider because I was able to hold it.   I plan on having more of those cool shows.”
